Casey Reas is an artist and educator working in Los Angeles. His work explores kinetic systems through diverse digital media including software art, prints, animation, and responsive sculpture. With Ben Fry of the MIT Media Lab, he is currently developing Processing, a platform for learning fundamentals of computer programming within the context of the media arts. In 2001, Reas received his M.S. degree in Media Arts and Sciences from the MIT Media Laboratory, where he was a member of the Aesthetics and Computation Group (ACG). Casey has lectured and exhibited in Europe, Asia, and the United States. His work has recently been shown at Ars Electronica, the American Museum of the Moving Image, Museum of Modern Art, P.S.1 and the Danish Filminstitute. His work is represented by the Bitforms gallery in New York.
